Her Penny Farthing Daydreams - A Poem by Paul Tristram - Appreciate Language and Form through the Best Contemporary Poetry

Her Penny Farthing Daydreams – A Poem by Paul Tristram

Happily rolled her further away
from the melancholy prison,
she had naively vowed herself into,
each hideaway moment of the day.
The Summer breeze
kissing gently her bare knees.
Hair unclasped for a change
and attacking the sky in all directions
like streaks of auburn lightning.
Traversing the country lanes of her mind,
imagination dotting the horizon
with newly discovered flowers.
At the rainbow bend,
she smiles and winks at the wishing well.
Then whistling as carefree as a gentleman,
she splashes the sun shower puddles
one at a time just like she’s witnessed
the schoolboys around the Common do.

Manifesto - A Poem by Ananya S. Guha - Appreciate Language and Form through the Best Contemporary Poetry

Manifesto – A Poem by Ananya S. Guha

In the wind is a lie
roaming across oceans
that are skeptical of the wind’s roving ways, eye lust.
Madman, the wind storms a penurious tree and returns soaring to high heavens.
Watches cluttered movements below for appraisal of world justice.
Mercenaries breathe with relief
as the wind calmly prepares another fresh manifesto.

A World-Sized Love in a Universe of Hate - A Poem by Paul Tristram - Appreciate Language and Form through the Best Contemporary Poetry

A World-Sized Love in a Universe of Hate – A Poem by Paul Tristram

That’s just what it can feel like out there sometimes
and that’s exactly when you need to shine brightest.
Don’t stop being nice because bitter people don’t like it,
instead only be nice to the people who appreciate you.
They’re only jealous because the light has left them,
leaving spite and meanness to lord over their souls.
As far as human beings are concerned; they are failures,
beware of their petty, poisonous envy and negativity,
do not feel sympathy or mercy for those losers
and more importantly do not have them around.
They have not quite gone over to ‘The Dark Side’
for that would involve a choice, no, they have slid down
to ‘The Pathetic Side’ the ‘Lower Levels’ (It’s tedious!)
where the weak-willed hide cowardly… rise above them.
Enjoy your depth of character, revel in your sense of honour
and intellect, create a life of common sense and magic.
Be bold, beautiful and brilliant and when life bursts
your bubble… blow another bigger one right back in its face,
I’ll see you on the sunny side of the street… you Winner!

A Gust - A Poem by Robert Silver - Appreciate Language and Form through the Best Contemporary Poetry

A Gust – A Poem by Robert Silver

A gust alive; a redwood dead
Sleep softwood your peaceful breath
A gust dies

Stone in stillness; still, revealed
From emptiness a gust begins,
like water, carving the stone around
A grain of sand, unknown, found

Reach for the fleeting sand
Fingers shadow palm of hand
Origin, wisdom, truth imparted,
color alike, color departed

A gust alive; knowledge dead
Open eyes and open hand
Fly back to wisdom, grain of sand
A gust dies

Realisation - A Poem by Krushna Chandra Mishra - Appreciate Language and Form through the Best Contemporary Poetry

Realisation – A Poem by Krushna Chandra Mishra

They never said why
They thought of me
That way, then and ever
To answer my insults
Hurled at them in disdain,
And distrust of how deep
Into future of distant years
They were, by claims ordained,
To peep with unshaken faith
In what some lines drawn on sand
With the long finger tips could point
To and paint to present a flawless
Flamboyance of fleeting favours,
A fortune in fickleness could find
To forever frown at fiends,
And in fond friendships, to fund
Joys and honeyed pastimes
To keep at bay gloom people
Plotted to put, using powers, all
To drag me away from those
Plans, I dogged to take me
To times of rest when my years
Of work should cease and lead
Me to scintillating charms
Of dreams that beat down
Dark depression of despondent days.
