Cold Day and No Heat | G. S. Katz - A Poetry Website Featuring Poems by Contemporary Poets

Cold Day and No Heat | G. S. Katz

Where I live
The heat is never on
when you want it most
25 degrees and the steam isn’t pumping

Waking up early, dog wanting to go out
But feeling the warmth of your body in bed
Snuggling in close to catch your heat
Just enough to face the cold dog journey

Back inside, dog mission complete
You’re still sleeping but the day awaits
It’s a long winter, plenty of snuggles to go
So glad they are with you…

Sadness, Grief, Mourning, New Light | G. S. Katz - A Poetry Website Featuring Poems by Contemporary Poets

Sadness, Grief, Mourning, New Light | G. S. Katz

My Mom has been gone for a few weeks
The dust is settling but the finality is difficult
Not being able to pick up the phone and call
Probably hurts the most

My sister and I had a routine
She called at 5 and I called between 6 and 7
Now we call each other
Our bond always strong, now stronger

Mom never asked much of us
She was selfless and appreciated her kids
She only wanted the best for us
We always tried to do the same for her

There will be light one day
Now I’m engaging in remembrance
A little misty sometimes
Sometimes even a prayer, it helps

I pray for her to be somewhere with my Dad
Walking hand in hand
Heaven has collected her
Her journey now complete

Furore | Naduni - A Poetry Website Featuring Poems by Contemporary Poets

Furore | Naduni

The verdure that palisaded my arbour
In my puerile childhood
Is now parched
Isn’t it an apposite reflection
Of my cognition?

I am desiccated in the desert
Of your inclement people
Who deracinated me from my right for equality
And decimated my
Serenity

With snides and stings
That whiplashed me but could not
Break my neck

The air damp with your venom
Could make me choke
But not asphyxiate

Your autocracy
And your subhuman interest in
Caste discrimination
Are dehydrating my veins
And exsiccating my alleged South-Indian blood with furore
