Wake and Forget | Dah - Read Poetry Online by Talented Contemporary Poets

Wake and Forget | Dah

What I love
I forget to love
and there is nothing
half-hearted either way
and there is something
remarkable about this
the manifestation
the celebration
the openness
of leaving or returning
that brings not only
change to one’s self
but to the lover
who remains devoted
with exuberance and restraint
on certain days
that seem humbler
than others
where in the dullness
of the world
there’s a great sleeping
desire to dream
with my head
hanging down
as if exiled from reality
as if conditioned
to wake and forget
or to ignore
such brief encounters
as having loved

Palm Leaves | Abigail Ayornu - Read Poetry Online by Talented Contemporary Poets

Palm Leaves | Abigail Ayornu

The beautiful leaves lingering like a genius
With its branches having an earring
As the fruits ripe
Her appetite whets to eat the fruits of her labour
Is like a youth springing to maturity
With all her sparkling features
Having hairs on the stem is natural
As it unveils the beauty of womanhood
Not to talk of the roots
Having meritable feets
Standing in one location
Trapped in the middle of the forest
