These small matters
that separate us,
that we allow to stand
between us,
are only small matters
to be pushed aside,
to be rendered null,
as we embrace our
own community.

How beautiful is life
That we may glance upon one another
No war or strife
I am so blessed
Keep whispers
Around corners
To yourselves
I am not fodder
for gossips
Keep judgments
Made silently
Inside your mouth
No one needs
to hear another
harangue
Speak kindness
Not ill
So days are many.
Let us coexist
Helping everyone we can
It’s never too late
This life can be saved
We all can make it better
Let’s make the effort
No more excuses
for a broken world,
no more words of parting,
High time for words
of knitting together,
songs of mending.
Nothing happened today worth mentioning
No bombs, no bullets, no speeches staking
Out our space or theirs, no twisted logic to
Justify our actions, in fact, today the world
Slept late, went to the beach and made a day
Of it, sat in the sand and watched children play
Felt the sun and the slight breeze, hummed
A tune caught in its head, felt joy, and wholeness
Why, it was quiet enough to hear ourselves think
Hear ourselves ask why everyday isn’t this way.
