Patent Pending | Judy Moskowitz

Am I trending,
An accidental invention,
Patent pending,
Waiting to be cooked
To perfection,
Not too hard boiled
To digest,
Just the right amount
Of soft.
Am I trending,
Do I dare cross the line
Not dot the i’s
Or cross the t’s,
Insight a riot,
Wear tight jeans,
A peek a boo shirt.
Am I trending
When my lines are
Straight forward,
Not improvised,
Cleaned-up dirt
Inside a silk lining,
Am I trending.

Ebolution: Tracing the Origin of Ebola | Melissa Carruthers Wilson - Read Poetry Online by Talented Contemporary Poets

Ebolution: Tracing the Origin of Ebola | Melissa Carruthers Wilson

Is it tradition-induced desire, accompanied by grunting
Or the constant hunger, overpowering from within
Or maybe it’s the thrill of a catch after hunting
After the smoke clears from spent ammunition
That makes grilled bat, or boiled, peppered bat so appealing
Or perhaps it’s just more acceptable, depending on what you’ve been
exposed to & where you’ve been
Still, it’s somehow outrageous
How not sharing ones’ food can lead to poisoning that’s contagious

Beautiful Things | Chris Byrne - Read Poetry Online by Talented Contemporary Poets

Beautiful Things | Chris Byrne

A smile so simple will make the world go round
never knowing, for a smile could mean so much,
making someone’s day unknowingly.
Just that simple touch, a kind pat on the back,
making someone’s day or one of those loving
kind embraces that make one feel alive.
To be alive is it to feel, to see never knowing,
or is it to embrace; To have, to hold
with all our souls.
A kiss; so sensual yet so simple, a joining
of kindred spirits lost in a moment,
simply being, just being alive,
A feeling of being alive, an understated
beauty, We all know and feel yet
most of us are afraid.
To see, to feel, to love and to live.
That simple thing that is within
us all.
A hidden beauty we keep
inside from those we
wish could see.

Hollowness | Blanca Alicia Garza - Read Poetry Online by Talented Contemporary Poets

Hollowness | Blanca Alicia Garza

Pretty young girls
Playing at being women
Full of rivalry
Friendship is rare
Empty heads
Lonely, starving souls
“A like” ignites their fire
“No likes” show a bit more
Childhood lost
Technology is the thief
Parenting time
Replaced with expensive “toys”
Hollow hearts
Craving for affection
Finding none their
Spirits wither.

Parted on the Path | Krushna Chandra Mishra - Read Poetry Online by Talented Contemporary Poets

Parted on the Path | Krushna Chandra Mishra

I think
Quite a long time ago,
Somewhere in stately ways,
We met to dream of uncounted years,
Of healthy togetherness,
Offering each one help, hope and hands
To create in times great monuments
Of human relationships
To inspire silent generations
Into singing the praise
Of love and life and letters,
Catching the fleeting rays
Of plenty, prosperity and peace
Till the world long-lying dull
Stirs into forging bonds
Of friendship, fraternity and fortunate unity
Lest any time in gross unthinking
We should part on the path,
Forgetting that on earth
We stand tied to our destinies,
Inseparably since birth,
And afford we can never
To tear this planet’s gifts to tatters
Leaving a sad grey smoking universe
Dead because of our deadliest actions.
We fools think we are intelligent
To destroy a future spanning vast eternities
That we think belongs to others
Whom we must deprive
Because we don’t like.
This earth’s resources should be shared equally
Among all those who have genuine needs
Since our ever-bulging stomach of greed
Cries for ever for more
Than we could get,
Snatching resources belonging to others
And making them crying miserable wretches
For smoking and dead eternities
Stretched over uncounted millennia.
