Sly | Edgar Law - Appreciate Language and Form through the Best Contemporary Poetry

Sly | Edgar Law

She’s got that sly
Grin that points
The finger
Sly grin that says
Where there’s smoke
There’s fire
Sly grin that says
Step away
No chance, She’s taking
the car.

Out of Town | Edgar Law - Appreciate Language and Form through the Best Contemporary Poetry

Out of Town | Edgar Law

I’m from another
Place hiding under
My wide hat in the sun
I’m another language
Never heard around here
A new dance
Nobody else knows
‘Cause I make it up
As I go.

Love Domination | Loriz - Appreciate Language and Form through the Best Contemporary Poetry

Love Domination | Loriz

Love is like an unbroken melody
that flows amidst the world’s cacophony;
the hymn to mend discordant harmony;
uniting hearts in blended symphony.

Love is the air that flutters butterflies;
a brickfielder that warms the summer skies.
It is the gust of wind when lover cries;
it is an endless breath; it never dies.

Love passes beyond human cognition;
no gender no time no age can reason;
the truest of hearts is its dominion,
nothing can hinder its own volition.

To those who love make sure your heart is true;
the test may come you’ll never have a clue –
temptations lurk then heartaches may ensue,
only real love will never bid adieu.

Autopsy Report | Stan Morrison - Appreciate Language and Form through the Best Contemporary Poetry

Autopsy Report | Stan Morrison

No amount of hand sanitizer
Can create a surfeit of clean
And disguise the dying flesh
Bronzer and a comb-over
Can’t cover the decay inside

You are a very Narcissus
Papa’s little pride and joy
You’ve prove to us plebeians
Wealth doesn’t define success
Status isn’t a sign of intelligence

A Lasting Feeling | Ferris E. Jones - Appreciate Language and Form through the Best Contemporary Poetry

A Lasting Feeling | Ferris E. Jones

When rockets begin to fall from the sky
To make the late afternoon cry,
Something must be done to trumpet
Through the naked silhouette
Of the daily news.

The flowers must take back their homeland
Be permanent, be baffling, be grand.
Let the stars follow their walk;
Then, with comfort the birds will flock,
Dispelling the days blues.

Once common romantic appetites
Will begin to fill those marble nights.
Triumphantly understanding its goal
To fill the large translucent hole,
Begging for its taboos.
