Have you ever lived in a place where gunshots occur every day
Without hearing a bang? Where you don’t even have water?
I have and I have moved on from that place
In search of harmony and a virtuous land.
Have you ever seen your brothers or sons beaten half-dead?
I have, my family was scared and they sent me off.
I had learned the basics that my teachers taught but
I couldn’t find life lessons and I remained stopped like a clock.
Life presented a turning point and it is now where I stand,
Man, the supreme lord in the food chain,
But I can’t tolerate the injustice among men
The poor will remain hungry, the rich healthy,
You with many faces, come forth, don’t show me your back
For you are the coward with a clown face
You in the crowd, you make families suffer
Sons and daughters at home waiting for their mother to cook them supper, some wait for their grandmother to come home
Your stomach will be filled with fame and gesture
The children will need food in order to thrive
You will name it a socialized society
But the irony will be a ‘vandalized young heart’
Stepping on the empty stomach, you will call yourself the man.

Game for Fools | Rohit Sagolsem - A Poetry Website Featuring Poems by Contemporary Poets

Game for Fools | Rohit Sagolsem

Look, look, they have done it again!
Bombing mercilessly, they have killed the innocent
In the name of peace, they have turned the river red
Life to them is a mere game of chess
Where the innocent are the pawns, destined to die
Calling themselves patriots, they have made the sky dark
Achieving happiness, sacrificing the innocent
Ruthless acts making them proud
Restoring peace by firing inhuman bullets
Life on a platter, the situation is the same anywhere
Man will perish if this killing goes on,
Stop differentiating men based on their color
Don’t forget the color of blood will remain the same
Men, such fools killing one another
When everyone can live in peace, why create chaos?
If I say, let’s go to war, will you listen more?
Please don’t be a fool, we all want peace
There will be no we to tell the tale
Of how we men lived and achieved true happiness.

Worth a World | Troy Cabida - A Poetry Website Featuring Poems by Contemporary Poets

Worth a World | Troy Cabida

You wear skin once soft,
now steel shining, adorned in scars
that tell a story you don’t need to explain.
In whispers
they’ll talk about how much you’ve grown,
how many battles you’ve dived into and won,
how high you’re flying,
soaring from all the obscurity,
because now
every piece of earth you step on
can become yours, so choose to be luminous,
you’re worth the world.
Now you can sleep, feed, give yourself
peace, all the time to heal
and hear yourself again.
Hold on tight, embrace yourself because
you’re worth the whole world.

The Untitled Flag | Rohit Sagolsem - A Poetry Website Featuring Poems by Contemporary Poets

The Untitled Flag | Rohit Sagolsem

What will be the color of our flag? When mankind is united
Will it be green? Will it be blue?
Will it be red or just transparent.
I wonder if the flag will bear a symbol.
A united fist or the symbol of yin and yang
Describing not one nation but humanity as a whole
Men will sing one song about
Our mother earth, our so-called beloved home
Men will raised the flag high, reaching every heart and soul
Respecting every caste, color and religion
Men will love endlessly and share bread
Children will grow up happy and strong
No parent will beg, no child will be sold
No child will be killed, none will sleep empty at dawn
Every mother will see her kids grow up
Living in a lively world with no war or hatred
We’ll walk to the isle together till we meet our fate
The only question that remains,
Will we be there when the flag of one is being raised?
