Everyone Is Equal in the Blues/Sic Transit Gloria Mundi | Andrew Darlington

to the two young lovers
across the aisle from me
midway mainline between
Wakefield and Kings Cross,
her head nuzzle-snuggling
into the tats of his neck
in a warm violet honey-tangle
of solar wind-blown hair,
his arm carelessly drapes her
as he checks his online mail…
and hey,
it’s me, I’m the creepy old guy
watching in regret and envy,
it’s me who secretly leans
across the aisle to whisper
love her, and love her well,
for this moment never comes again…

Cycles | Stan Morrison - A Poetry Website Featuring Poems by Contemporary Poets

Cycles | Stan Morrison

after my mother died, her belongings devitalized
her furniture merely tables and chairs at goodwill
the flatware just an incomplete service for eight
the clothes now rags crammed into some cartons
free-floating, lifeless stuff left without any context
graveside ceremony, simple pine box, afternoon rain

the following summer, her plants flourished in our garden
those azalea, hydrangea and fragrant jasmine blossomed
once vulnerable, they prospered and assumed permanence
sprouting new roots and branches with assured contours
like my mother, I love to nurture and delight in new growth

What Is Silence? | Jubshaw - A Poetry Website Featuring Poems by Contemporary Poets

What Is Silence? | Jubshaw

Silence is snow falling outside your door
Turning the world into seamless white
Covering up all things ugly and impure
Quietly caressing the earth through the night

Silence is a mime telling stories without words
Using only features on his face recorded
He’s understood perfectly though his voice isn’t heard
By all that see him he’s greatly adored

Silence is a window through which one can look
Seeing wondrous things, but not hearing a sound
Silence is also realized in an interesting book
Where exciting stories can always be found

Silence is sitting and thinking your thoughts
No one can know whether they’re evil or good
But thoughts make up what your life has wrought
In your silent thoughts, try to think good

Love Domination | Loriz - A Poetry Website Featuring Poems by Contemporary Poets

Love Domination | Loriz

Love is like an unbroken melody
that flows amidst the world’s cacophony;
the hymn to mend discordant harmony;
uniting hearts in blended symphony.

Love is the air that flutters butterflies;
a brickfielder that warms the summer skies.
It is the gust of wind when lover cries;
it is an endless breath; it never dies.

Love passes beyond human cognition;
no gender no time no age can reason;
the truest of hearts is its dominion,
nothing can hinder its own volition.

To those who love make sure your heart is true;
the test may come you’ll never have a clue –
temptations lurk then heartaches may ensue,
only real love will never bid adieu.
