How Much | Mónika Tóth

everyone knows my name,
everyone knows my face,
everyone knows my smile,
everyone knows my laugh,
everyone knows my voice,

but it doesn’t matter cause,
they don’t know my story,
they don’t know my scars,
they don’t know my lies,
they don’t know my pain,

they don’t know,
how much I’m breaking down,
how much I’m trying to hold on,
how much I’m losing my trust,
how much I’m struggling,
how much I’m dying

Hyperbolic Times | Benjamin Nardolilli - Read Poetry Online by Talented Contemporary Poets

Hyperbolic Times | Benjamin Nardolilli

These are hyperbolic times,
All the old descriptions are broken
Or they are inadequate for today,
As if we have outgrown the very words,
Like scandal or setback,
No one knows what will happen next
Because these waters
Are unexplored and unsourced,
They may be rivers, seas, lakes , or pools,
Involving waves in the distance
Or hills ready to come crashing down,
No one knows how things will stop either
Or the time necessary,
Events used to take their time to bleed
All the way to the front pages, now
We go from skirmish to war in days
And leak to resignation in hours.

Terror Barrier | Kimber Annie - Read Poetry Online by Talented Contemporary Poets

Terror Barrier | Kimber Annie

what I know is this…
once you jump ship
you gotta swim
swim like there’s no tomorrow
swim like your life depends upon it… cause it does.
get your arms moving
get your legs moving
move.
move the deep that’s surrounding you
move the mountains that are touting you
move the voices that are doubting you
move.

move the liquid that’s caressing your flesh cause at this moment it isn’t your friend
you have to keep your ears above it and not let any of it in
move away as it screams
move away as it laughs
move away as it mocks you
move.

nothing about this swim resembles a refreshing dip on a warm summers day or a walk in the park
You’re in some other universe.
A universe where you have to hold your head up and you have to hold it up high. So high that your closer to the heavens then you’ve ever been.
Can’t think about food. Can’t think about hunger. Can’t think about the waves or about going under.
Feast on the airy sky. Drink it in. Drink in the colorful horizon. Drink in the sunset or sunrise. Drink it all in and swim its direction.
This is where you will find a sliver of life while you’re saving yours.
