Life on life I’ve wondered, to no avail
Searching, still searching for the Holy Grail.
Books I’ve read, knowledge gained to ascertain
The right path to take, my Grail to gain:
Not in world affairs, nor in devout prayers
Nor blind love or faith, not in steadfastness rare
Not on paths of virtue alone, nor vice
My Grail remains a dream, a game of dice
Pre-loaded, tilted in favour of pain
For ever a quest, never attained.
