I kept my door open and waited
at the threshold, garland in hand
soft light from within lit my doorway
calling, inviting, seducing rays
He rode by on his white steed
to fulfill a thousand errands:
My eyes followed as far as sight would go
His eyes scanned the world more and more.
My garland dried, the lamp went out
and I stood waiting at the door.
When he came back I was still there
and right behind was my room
with its closed door.
He still comes riding on his steed
And he still goes
While I wait outside my room
I wait outside my closed door.
