Buffalo Know Me – A Poem by Robin Wyatt Dunn

Buffalo know me nightmare.
Buffalo hurt me under all my tide.
Buffalo hurt me.

Buffalo hurt me,
Cut my throat,

But I’m fighting out of the room I died in,
Fighting into some woman’s heart.

Buffalo cut me,
Buffalo hurt me in the sky,
Don’t tell me why,
Please don’t tell me why.

I burst this old hat,
Right off my head,
With the pansies I put in,
So that I might dance outside the gate,
Waiting to be let in,
In my miseries,
In my huddle,
Smiling without reason or words,
Showing you the rabbit,
Out here under the cold plains.
