Walked from A to Z not just to B.
Sideways, zigzagging
anyway but back home again.
A dusty hat full of memories,
frayed pockets lined with hope
and a heart still pumping
magically with childlike wonder.
The rain soaked coat upon his back,
the worn down heeled boots
upon his carefree, wandering feet
were the only Home he owned.
A warm meal with some cold drinks,
followed by a little bit of music
and some fine, rambling conversation
was about as good as life gets.
He has crossed Country borders,
mountain ranges and all manner
of City, Town and Rural Districts
to achieve this simple knowledge
and now gratefully puts it into practice
whenever he gets the luck and chance.
Money is not the root of all evil
but it can be, just like the wrong love.
A wise man like the Ragged Rover,
learns the hard way how to find
the easiest pathway through
the storm of all that life throws at us.
