Fauna – A Poem by Camille Clark

I am in love with the
animal kingdom.
Animals are so simple
and so blind. If they
wound, it is because they
are hungry. Not jealous
or greedy. If they breed
it is because they need to
create. Not because they
want to own the other.
There is a bare-toothed
simplicity to their life
that I crave.
