Double Bind – A Poem by Marie MacSweeney

A clear day.
Westward flight,
fractured
spray of hieroglyphics
in its wake.
Flit northwards,
lacerating trail
pencil thin.
The place where
these two intersect
a clear cut
for seconds only,
and then confusion,
loathing dressed as love,
a tilting towards nothing.
