Headiness – A Poem by Ananya S. Guha

This morning the scatter of sun paled into dark ashes
cloud bursts, spring — fire of rain
cats hurried inside
dogs looked baleful
people on streets strutted as usual like flaunting people, even as the news mourned Kashmir and France. I took the pen, sorry the computer,
to look at thoughts, with the stigma
of insatiable death
lurking in headiness.
