Waiting – A Poem by Anuradha Fonseka

My sweetest love, come to me
Our dreams are waiting to be realized
The dreams we built together are waiting to be realized

I walk along the river bank we used to tread
The mermaids ask me where you are: because the dreams we built together
are waiting to be realized

When I stare at the starry sky; the moon who used to sing with us asks
me where you are: because the dreams we built together are waiting to
be realized

Yet how can I tell them that you will
Never come to me again…
Although the dreams we built together are waiting to be realized
