Her arms wrapped around me, a shield.
The sunlight creeps in, casting shadows.
Slow and steady we crawl towards the open crack.
No time like this time to look back.
I live in darkness until I see her there.
Oh how much we wish it could be fair.
Now her heart is filled with so much despair.
We race against the clock, hoping it will stop.
Time stands still, I feel it as the tear drops.
You carry me with you, each step filled with less regret.
I carry me with you, each breathe reminding me of how we met.
