Blackbirds | Donal Mahoney

A moment ago,
in a flicker of pique,
with a wave of the hand,
I dispersed them.
Glorious birds,
now they are back,
gold talons wrapped,
roosting.
Glorious birds,
high on a wire,
spearing the nits
in their feathers.
