Forgotten– for Syria | Ehizogie Iyeomoan

i saw this lean lipid face

scribbled on the dust of memory
–a whirlwind too in a hurry
to erase it, to wash his face
from the sands
leaving only specs in history books
–a tattered flag, a soon forgotten anthem
