Silence | Ananya S. Guha

Justice, thundered the Lord.
Outside it was raining heavily,
the convict was chewing gum,
looked aside nonchalantly
gulping, the defendant said
My Lord, my client is innocent, and unless proved
innocent he cannot be guilty.
We are all innocent, guilt comes later. It is encrusted upon
our dissembling habits. Silence, ordered Mr Justice.
If there is no silence then can there be justice?
The court is adjourned for today, it will resume after the rainy
season is over.
