I Said Goodbye | Alan Inman

I said goodbye
to the theatrical girl
shut up in the attic room
to the mad uncle
drinking whiskey in the basement
and his bar tender
I said goodbye
to the twins in the yard
playing their games
goodbye to the old man
sitting in the chair
goodbye to the joke-maker
goodbye
to all the voices
that kept me company
for so long
hello to a few new
faces.
