The window across has light entering
and, petering into shadows
I watch the window everyday
no man lives or woman
no animal, only some shadows
cover the window
as night grows the window opens
shutting, closing off all light.
A dog barks ominously
the window jettisons darkness
in the morning a house stands
with people doing chores, chattering
washing. A dog noses around.
I can’t see it, this demystifying
window. The fool.
