Footprint | Judy Moskowitz

I bear witness to my skin
the itchy scaly truth
reminding me there’s still
much to do about everything
examining my footprint
the sins and saints that have
brought me to this place
inherited blood lines
that cannot undo everything
I bear witness to my lies
that carried my survival instinct
the imperfection of a human being
I bear witness to love
that has fueled my very existence
curled my toes
before I let go
